There are eight different categories available for you to nominate in.  You can nominate in as many as you like, one time only.

Click the information button on each category to see the criteria for that particular award. If you want to nominate someone for more than one award this must be done separately. There is a 350 word limit on your reasons for nominating.

Nominations for 7 of our awards are open until Sunday 15th October. After that the SWiS guest panel will collate the results, and decide on the winner for each category.

Nominations close on 8th October for The QTS Sportswomen of the year, the panel will select their top four in The QTS Sportswomen of the year category and the winner will be decided by a public vote.  You will be able to cast your vote for The QTS Sportswomen of the year, from Monday 9th October, through this website, once the shortlist has been finalised.  Voting on this will close on Friday 27th October.

Criteria for Role Model of the Year 2017

This award recognises a person who, by their exemplary actions and attitudes, has inspired and encouraged young people to make positive life choices.

The nominee should be in a recognised programme that supports role models, mentors, ambassadors etc. and should share their knowledge and experiences as well as listen and provide support so that young people can relate to them, and as such are more inclined to follow in the footsteps of this inspirational role model.


Criteria for Official of the Year 2017

The Official of the Year award is presented to the official who worked consistently and fairly throughout the year and recognises the hard work and dedication that referees, umpires and match officials make to playing and the competition structure of their sport.    The nominee must be a recognised, registered and accredited official of the sport.


Criteria for Best Campaign 2017

This award will be presented to an organisation that has raised the profile and increased awareness of women in sport in Scotland during the season 2016/17, through competition, social media, marketing etc.  The organisation must be constituted.


Criteria for Coach of the Year 2017

The Coach of the Year award is presented to the individual who through imparting their expertise and knowledge has ensured success in their chosen sport.  This winner will display all the necessary traits, and their application must demonstrate how their influence and dedication, has ensured success in their chosen sport.


Criteria for Best Team Performance 2017

The Best Team Performance award will recognise the high quality achievements of a club and or team over the last year and reflect how they have achieved excellent performance results.     This team or club must have achieved sporting excellence and encompass ‘good practice’ within their structure.


Criteria for sportscotland Young Sportswoman 2017

The sportscotland Young Sportswomen of the Year 2017 award is presented to the outstanding young athlete of 2017.  This female must have achieved success through continuous effort, learning and application in 2017 and must be 17 years of age or younger at the time of nominating.


Criteria for QTS Sportswoman of the Year 2017

The QTS Sportswomen of the Year award is presented to the outstanding athlete of 2017.  This female must have achieved excellence in her sport in 2017.


Criteria for People's Champion 2017

The People's Champion award is presented to the person or group of people, who, in the opinion of the panel, works tirelessly in the background.  This could be a mother or father, teacher or coach any individual or group that makes a difference to women in sport in Scotland.  N.B The group most be constituted.
